The Zonta Club of Newport Harbor can focus its volunteer services and financial
resources to help your organization initiate a new program/project or to expand an existing
one.  In this way, we can work together to better serve the Orange County community.  
Grant Application

The Zonta Club of Newport Harbor was chartered in 1948 and its Foundation formed in
1950.  We are a member of Zonta International and our Club Mission is in alignment with
the mission of Zonta International which is to
"Advance the Status of Women Worldwide”.  
We do this through local and international service projects, scholarships and grants.

m. Below you will find the eligibility
requirements, selection process and instructions on how to apply.   It is often said that
TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More.  


How can the Zonta Club of Newport Harbor Area TEAM up with you?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Organizations wishing to be considered for service project and/or monetary grants must
meet the following criteria:

1. Organization must be tax exempt under the Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).
2. Organization must have a Non-Discrimination Policy.
3. Organization Board of Directors must be made up of volunteers, meet at least quarterly
and have a minimum of four members.
4. Organization must have a strategic plan or defined goals and objectives.
5. Organization must be audited annually.

Projects that meet the following criteria will be considered during the first phase of the
application process:

1. If possible, project should provide opportunities for Zonta Club volunteer involvement,
either day, evening, weekend or flexible hours, utilizing approximately 6-8 hours per
month per Zonta Club volunteer.
2. Projects requiring funding must provide demonstrated and verifiable financial need.
Organization must demonstrate good management, fiscal responsibility and public
accountability.
3. Projects must have a significant focus on Orange County and the mission(s) of Zonta
International.
4. Multi-year projects will be considered.

Those Organizations which meet our criteria in the first phase may be asked for additional
information in order to complete the second phase of our project selection process,
including the following:

1. Allocation of resources for the project:
   a. Labor needed from Zonta Club, other community volunteers and applicant’s paid staff
   b. Existing and outside funding
   c. Materials needed
2. Alternate plans for project implementation
3. Detailed Organization information - number paid staff, existing volunteers, roster of
officers and directors
4. Audited financial statements for past 2 years, current operating budget, total assets and
liabilities, income, revenue and expenditures (year to date)
5. Proof of adequate insurance for the Organization in general and the project

PROJECT SELECTION PROCESS

1. Applications received.  Service Committee provides preliminary review.  Applications
meeting criteria for Phase 1 may be contacted to provide additional required
information.  Service Committee provides review of Phase 2 documents.
2. Interviews, site visits and evaluations may be conducted with qualified Phase 2 Applicant
Organizations by Service Committee Members.  Committee reviewer(s) complete
evaluations.
3. Evaluation reports are presented to Service Committee.
4. Project proposals and evaluations are submitted to Board for review. Then presented to
Membership for a vote
5. Letters of Agreement will be prepared by the Service Committee for approved projects.
6. Zonta Club membership conducts sign-ups for volunteer portions of projects.  Letters of
Agreement may be executed, subject to adequate volunteer sign-ups.

Submit one (1) copy of the application with original signatures and any needed
attachments. Include one (1) copy of the letter that verifies your Organization’s tax-exempt
status under the Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).

Deadline for submission is January 15th, 2011.
