Oakview Elementary Student to Business Program:

For eight years the Zonta Club of Newport Harbor has been hosting the Oakview
Elementary Student to Business Program in conjunction with the Children's Bureau. This
program allows fifth graders the opportunity to see inside local businesses, courtrooms
and colleges that they might not otherwise get the chance to experience.

The tours include:
  • Panasonic Avionics:
  • The youth will watch a short video of the Airbus A380 being assembled, then
    they will be able to spend some time in the test labs where hundreds of movie
    monitors are loaded with games to simulate the aircraft.
  • Chapman College:
  • The youth will walk around the campus and meet instructors.
  • Hyatt Hotel in Huntington Beach:
  • The youth will go behind the scenes at the hotel and see how things operate.
  • Local City Offices:
  • The youth will be able to see how many people it takes and all the work involved in
    running a city.
  • Harbor Justice Center:
  • The youth will be able to interact with a judge, a sheriff's deputy and a court reporter.
